Unique opportunity in a unique school
Would you like to be part of a forward-thinking, supportive school community where your professional development is a priority? St James' is an Ofsted-rated "Good" school where we are committed to the flourishing of all our staff and pupils.
St James' Catholic High School is a wonderful place to work for many reasons. The words staff most often use to describe us are "supportive" and "community". We are a diverse community of pupils, teachers and support staff who share a common vision inspired by the words of St John's Gospel - "I have come that they might have life and have it to the full".
We can offer you an excellent package including bespoke CPD, childcare vouchers and support from leaders who take seriously the importance of work-life balance. We value your development and will work with you to ensure that your talents are nurtured to the full, welcoming applicants from all faiths and backgrounds.
We are looking to appoint an experienced, motivated and inspirational Head of Religious Education to lead this core curriculum area in our Catholic school community and join a strong team of leaders and managers.
One of the key roles of the post is to oversee the continued strength of RE in the school and ensure our Catholic ethos is not only delivered in lessons but embedded throughout the wider school. You will take responsibility for the development of the RE curriculum and for establishing, monitoring and evaluating the quality and standards of provision in relation to student performance, progression and learning. You will also ensure outstanding provision for all learners and take a lead role in raising the standards of achievement and attainment in the subject; there is the opportunity to become a Lead Practitioner in the future. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the Catholic ethos of the school.
We offer a highly supportive environment and are committed to ensuring outstanding teaching, behaviour and achievement.
This is a key post, suitable for a practising Catholic who has an inspired vision for Catholic education and aspires to senior leadership in a Catholic school. We will offer you the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and experience in a school where the individual is at the heart of what we do.
If you are an enthusiastic, creative, well-organised professional who wants to develop as a leader in a school where human flourishing is at the centre of our work, we would love to hear from you.
