- We are currently recruiting for a Head of Home Economics for our Ofsted 'Outstanding' Catholic School in Redbridge. *Please note this is a Maternity contract from January 2019*
The Department is very successful and plays a key role in helping the school to achieve Healthy School Status.
It has diversified over the years to establish new courses whilst still maintaining the tradition of teaching basic life skills in Food and Textiles.
Staffing: The Home Economics Department is staffed by very enthusiastic, committed and experienced teachers who are supported by three technicians. The staff are extremely dedicated to ensuring every student maximises their full potential. All staff teach Food and Textiles at KS3. High standards of work and behaviour are expected.
The department has four specialist teaching rooms, two on each site. There are three Food rooms and one Textiles room. The department is well equipped with up to date modern facilities including interactive whiteboards in each room and a class set of laptops.
These are used extensively to improve the quality of teaching and learning. Courses: All Year 7 - 9 students spend 10 weeks every year on Food and 10 weeks on Textiles where the emphasis is on developing practical skills and designing and making. All year 8 & 9 students complete the Edexcel BTEC Home Cooking Level 2. At GCSE the department currently offers AQA Food Preparation and Nutrition.
Urban Learning actively recruit for Secondary schools and Academies across London and the home counties, we have a constant requirement for D.T Teachers to teach across KS3/4 classes along with A Level teaching.

Requirements:

- Relevant classroom experience
- Sound Curriculum knowledge
