Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen at our oversubscribed and rated "good" academy for students from 11 to 19 years of age, for a Higher Level Assistant Teacher to work as part of our Specialised Learning Faculty and line manage our team of Assistant Teachers.
We are looking for an individual with outstanding classroom skills and SEN experience and knowledge, who can support, motivate and inspire students who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning in a main stream educational setting. You will need to be a team player but also be able to work independently, show great flexibility, creativity and have outstanding communication and organisation skills. Ideally the successful candidate will be a qualified HLTA or have a comparative level 4 qualification or be working towards this.  
You will collaborate with teachers in planning and delivering programs of teaching and learning activities for classes, groups or individuals. The primary focus is to undertake educational activities with individuals, groups and whole classes within a framework agreed with and under the overall direction and supervision of a qualified teacher. You will undertake a program of monitoring alongside the SENCO to ensure high standards of support in the classroom.
You should be able to demonstrate a successful track record in leading, motivating and organising a team. The ability to manage a team effectively is equally important in this role as any SEN knowledge and teaching experience. You will line manage and organise a team of Assistant Teachers, to help support students achieve effective learning and personal outcomes, both in the classroom and when taking examinations. You will also support the SENCO administratively and work alongside the SEN Admin Assistant.
This role will start September 2017 and will be subject to a 6 month probationary period. Salary H9 £15.93 to £17.14 per hour, for 37 hours per week 38 weeks per annum plus 3 days inset. Working hours 8.30-4.30 Mon to Fri term time with 3 hours unpaid breaks per week. Closing date for applications Monday 19th June 9am.
