Description:
We are looking to recruit an Experienced Head of Department or Passionate leader who is looking to take the next step in their career for our School based in Greenwich.
The Head of Department takes a major role in ensuring that the programmes of study for all courses within the Department are designed to meet statutory requirements, provide appropriate pace and challenge for all students and include regular opportunities for assessment and review. The Head of Department is required to
The ideal candidate will have the following:
· Qualified teacher status
· Good honours degree in relevant subject
· Record of excellent classroom practice
· Evidence of continuing professional development relating to leadership and management
Evidence of further professional/educational study
· At least 3 years successful experience of teaching in a comprehensive school including teaching students from diverse backgrounds and across a broad range of abilities
· Experience of teaching widely across the age and ability range at Key Stages 3 and 4 (and Key Stage 5 desirable)
· Involvement in school self-evaluation and development planning
· Evidence of the successful impact of working with students with special educational needs
· Ability to develop and sustain positive relationships with parents/carers, staff and students
· Evidence of leadership and management qualities that demonstrate the ability to be both a successful leader and member of a team
Record of participation in activities beyond own classroom designed to have an impact on students progress either at subject or year level, such as organising extra-curricular activities or working for an exam board.
- Ensure the smooth and effective running of the department on a day-to-day basis
- Construct, lead and deliver a Department Improvement Plan that is an integral part of the School Improvement Plan
- Provide strong and inspirational leadership to the faculty

Requirements:
