- Description
- A Good Intervention Teacher is required for an Academy in South East London. Starting ASAP this will be to cover maternity.
Our school are in a low socio-economic, high EAL & SEN area. Despite these challenges, they are rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted and are a successful and happy school. They have excellent CPD, friendly and supportive staff, enthusiastic support and high levels of parental engagement. We pride ourselves on our excellent rate of pupil progress while remaining a creative and enriching school. We have a PE teacher, PE coach, artist in residence and a music teacher who add further value to our curriculum. Please see the website for more detail.
Who are we looking for: a relatively experienced teacher (not a suitable position for an NQT) who will contribute to our team by covering maternity. The role is as an intervention teacher with some whole-class teaching. The teacher will work largely with groups daily – yr 1 phonics, year 2 maths and literacy and will cover the year 3 teacher 2 afternoons per week (as she teaches Spanish across KS2). We are happy to talk more about the groups to interested teachers e.g. year 2 maths intervention is for ‘target’ children who are expected to make age-related by the end of the year. The role is 5 days per week and until the end of the school year. (For an exceptional candidate, we could release them at the end of June if they were desperate to get cheap flights somewhere). We do need this commitment as we do no not wish the children to have different teachers.
We would want to see the teacher teach a short literacy or maths lesson (e.g. 45 minutes) and have an informal discussion. I would like to see CVs and references of excellent candidates only. Our current teacher is due to go on maternity leave on Friday 10th November (if she makes it!). We would like someone to start as soon as possible to allow a thorough induction and handover.
Please send your CV to Urban Learning ASAP.
The ideal candidate must have:
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Relevant experience
- Sound Curriculum knowledge
- Committed to securing high levels of progress, achievement for students
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Enhanced DBS
