The primary objective of this role is to assist the Directors of Music in developing and leading an
outstanding music department in an urban setting, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning and
the achievement and engagement of all students. The successful candidate will be committed to promoting
Music across the Academy, and to working with a range of external partners.
Scope of the role
Students: planning, delivery and development of the Music curriculum and extended curriculum.
Staff: working with the Directors of Music to ensure that Music contributes to the ethos of the Academy
and promotes the profile and status of the subject. There is scope within the role to assist in developing
good practice in popular music/ music technology within the curriculum and extended curriculum.
Other: engagement with Academy curriculum initiatives, particularly those pertaining to Music
including KS2-3 transition, enrichment activities, cross-curricular planning and whole Academy literacy.
The successful candidate will be committed to:
Delivering consistently good lessons.
Ensuring students are engaged with and enjoy Music
Raising the attainment of students and promoting Music across the Academy.
Working with a range of stakeholders, including student consultants, parents, other schools and
local and national partners.
Urban Learning actively recruit for Secondary schools and Academies across London and the home counties, we have a constant requirement for Music Teachers to teach across KS3/4 classes along with A Level teaching.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate must have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or (QTLS)
- Relevant classroom experience
- Sound Curriculum knowledge
- Committed to securing high levels of progress, achievement for students
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Enhanced DBS
