Job Title: School Cook/Manager
Location: Stroud Primay School
Hours of work: 25 hours Mon – Fri 8.45am-1.45pm
Reports to: Principal
Purpose of the Role:
- Supervision of staff and allocation of duties
- Checking and recording of all food received, quantities of ingredients, number of meals served, temperature of food.
- Ensure cleanliness of the servery, it’s equipment and surround
- Ensure the security of items in the servery
- Ensure Food Hygiene and Health & Safety Regulations are adhered to all times
- Ensure that the Health & Safety at Work Act is observed within the servery and report any accidents or complaints regarding staff welfare to the Vice Principal.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and serviced regularly and report any faults
- Ensure all staff work the required hours
- Ensure that no food is removed from the premises
- Management of administrative duties such as ensuring child allergy information is up to date, Cleaning Schedule Record Sheet and temperature charts are completed.
- Ensure designated areas are kept in a tidy, clean and hygienic condition.
- Washing up and general cleaning duties
- Undertake any relevant food preparation
- Food service and related ancillary duties as requested within a professional kitchen environment
- To learn all relevant aspects of the academy’s catering provision as instructed and to carry out these duties effectively and to the standards required.
- To maintain a high standard of personal and general cleanliness and hygiene to comply with statutory and academy regulations

General heading Detail Essential requirements: Desirable requirements: Qualifications Qualifications required for the role A qualification in English and mathematics to at least Grade A-C GCSE, NVQ 2 or equivalent.
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
Qualified First Aider Knowledge/Experience Specific knowledge/
experience required for the roleGood understanding of HACCP, COSHH and the food safety act.
Effective time management skills
Able to confidently and competently apply knowledge and skills acquired from training into a practical context
An awareness of good health & safety.
Good organisational skillsExperience of safeguarding children. Personal Characteristics Behaviours Actively enjoys working with children, has empathy and is sympathetic to their needs.
Professionally discreet and able to respect confidentiality.
Flexible approach to tasks.
Firm, sensitive and effective approach towards pupil discipline.
